Is it OK if my dog guards a food toy? Guarding a food toy (or anything else that is of value to your dog) is normal behaviour. It’s worth saying that again ‘resource guarding’ is normal behaviour. For us too. I’m known (light-heartedly I hope!) to resource guard Bendick’s mints as any of my close friends will tell you. Sometimes they bring two boxes. One for me and one to share. I know, I’m terrible! Back to dogs…

Is it OK if my dog fears going to the vet? A pragmatic answer to this question might be ‘yes’, especially if they need treatment that will improve their physical health. After all, it’s the right thing to do to get them the treatment they need, right? Our legal responsibility in fact. But should we be thinking beyond that?
